Running Stitches—outline & detailing
Running stitches are used to outline and give detail to a design. This is
a prime illustration of both. The sails and the boat are both detailed by
running stitches. The water below the boat is also formed by running stitches.
Notice also the shading on the sails. The thread blends from white to light
gray, providing a realistic shadowing
Tampa Bay History Center uses their design on both shirts and caps. It is
made up of 5 colors, almost 7500 stitches and measures 3.2” x 2.50”
high.
This one has it all – Fill, Satin & Running Stitches, Drop Shadow, Gradient/Fade
Fill stitches are used to form the sun behind the parrot and the gradient/fade
from red to orange to yellow makes the sun shimmer. Satin stitches make up
the parrot’s body and running stitches outline and define the parrot
from the sun. More satin stitches are used for the text, both the drop shadow
and the full lettering on top of the shadow, as well as the separating border
around the sun.
Miguel’s Mexican Café have their logo embroidered on pique golf
shirts for the wait staff and on twill ball caps as souvenirs for patrons
to purchase.
This colorful design consists of 6199 stitches that measures approximately
3.50” x 1.60” high. There are 9 colors.
